Vince is the President of WOWzer Technologies, a cloud-based accounting firm that streamlines and automates bookkeeping services for small businesses globally.
When we first met Vince he was on vacation in Australia from his British Columbian home of Vancouver, Canada. What struck us immediately about Vince was his open and transparent leadership style. He reads like an open book.
It was clear from the outset that Vince didn’t need help in business. He had a thriving company that he had established in his mid-40s. 8 years into it, he experienced a major setback that could have cost him the business but instead, it forced him to innovate his systems and processes leading to his current uccess.
“I am a fighter on the inside,” he explained. “I have this belief that I can overcome any challenge or obstacle, especially with God by my side.”
We learned that his faith and passion for martial arts were the secrets to Vince’s supernatural energy and positive outlook on life. He spent the first part of his day in prayer, ate healthily during the day, and followed it up with high-intensity martial arts training in the evenings.
We know this kind of daily routine is proven to add longevity to life. We also recognised this is why Markd Global exists, to help more leaders be like Vince in the second half of life.
An Unexpected Request
Inspired but not feeling we could help, Vince mentioned that he did need help with something.
We were curious.
What could someone who appeared to have everything possibly need?
“I need help with finding my soulmate,” he shared.
At Markd Global, leaders engage us for all sorts of reasons. Some want us to help them grow their businesses. Others want to live and work with more meaning. Others want to make a bigger impact in their world and leave a legacy.
We’ve never had anyone ask us for help finding a soulmate.
Vince then shared more of his story. The breakdown of his marriage, and other broken relationships since. Not many but enough to show this area of his life needed work. As a man of faith, he believed the two most important decisions you can make in life are who you follow and who you choose to spend most of your life with. Vince felt he was winning at the first but the second needed more of his wholehearted attention.
The Power of Purpose
We could have told Vince we couldn’t help.
But as a team that finds the golden thread of purpose in leaders’ stories to propel them forward in work and life, this wasn’t that off the mark.
When Vince started his PX™ journey with us he was back home in Vancouver and so became our first global client. Through an online experience, we encouraged Vince to complete a lifeline exercise and share a profile of his ideal soulmate.
Vince had already written this profile dated April 7th, 2017. It started with a quote from Proverbs 31:10, “Charm can be deceiving and beauty fades away, but a woman who honours the Lord deserves to be praised.”
All this helped us craft Vince’s beautiful story not based on the soulmate he desired but the soulmate he wanted to be. We then encouraged Vince to share his profile on Christian dating apps. He was reluctant at first. But how was he going to meet his soulmate running an online business and spending most of his evenings training?
Vince started dating, slowly at first but more empowered to continue his journey of finding his soulmate on his own.
Fast forward to the present day
Vince did eventually meet his soulmate and now wife online. WOWzer!!
With a joy that you can’t capture in words, he shares how she is everything he had hoped for in a life partner and more. “There were aspects of my story that were holding me back from receiving true love,” he says. “And my wife helped me to see the broken places where I needed to change.”
In summary, Vince feels a part of him has been restored by meeting his wife and soulmate. He can’t imagine life without her. She sounded so amazing that we asked to meet her. And they both agreed.
In many ways, this story sounds like a script for a new Netflix romantic movie. But it isn’t. It’s a true story that can inspire us all not to settle in the second half of life but to step into wholehearted leadership in whatever form it takes.
