If you’ve been following Markd Global, you’ll know that our team attended The Purpose Summit in the US in May 2025 for the first time.

The Purpose Summit is one of the largest gatherings of purpose-driven leaders in the world created to encourage global collaboration and inspire business to become a more meaningful force for good.

We invited 3 x Australian Changemakers to share their PX™ – Purpose Experience Journey – on this global stage. PX™ is how we multiply purpose and impact in leaders by taking them on a journey from success to significance.

These are the 7 purposeful ideas we took away from PS25 that we think can be applied by anyone.

  1. Purpose unites humanity
Purpose is universal with the power to unite people beyond nationality, gender, sexual orientation, race, class, cultural background, age, religious belief, and making a profit alone. With such a diverse group of leaders at PS25, it was easy to see how purpose can bring people together in an increasingly divided planet. How is purpose uniting the communities in which you live and work?
  2. Purpose has a small and a big P
Most of us associate purpose with being a singular, grandiose idea that is more about the future than the present. However, purpose can show up in multiple ways, moment to moment. It comes from the truth of who we are, with the ability to guide our everyday choices, decisions, and interactions. Think about a moment today when you were purposeful? How did it make you and others feel?
  3. Purpose will cost you something
It might be relationships that don’t serve you, an over-reliance on money to make you happy, or a linear career path that doesn’t bring you fulfillment. At an organisational level, it’s choosing to say no to projects and clients that don’t align with your values. At PS25, we heard leader after leader making bold decisions driven by a call to something bigger than themselves. What have you let go of to be true to yourself and your purpose?
  4. Purpose requires authenticity
We saw it in the Australian leaders we brought to the summit. PX™ has already challenged them to be authentic, but being in a purpose-driven environment encouraged them to go even deeper. They shared stories that had not been shared on a public stage before, which were so well received by the other leaders in the room. Do you intentionally create safe spaces for people to open up and be seen and heard by you?
  5. Purpose liberates people
Living and working on purpose over time frees people from all sorts of shackles – trauma, addictions, relationship breakdowns, unmet expectations, limited thinking about themselves and others. Purpose can be an important catalyst for change and, over time, inspires people to make a mark – that is, leave the world better than they found it. How are you intentionally leaving the world better than you found it?
  6. Purpose grows companies
We heard that under-performing businesses can grow beyond expectations, powered by a clear sense of purpose. While a combination of factors can influence growth and high performance, purpose is a galvanising idea that can inspire employees to go the extra mile, making a company more attractive to new and loyal customers. What is your company purpose, and is it propelling your company forward?
  7. Purpose cultivates collaboration
The most transformative business and non-profit models we came across at PS25 were based on collaboration and ecosystem thinking rather than competition. Purpose cultivates an abundance rather than a scarcity mindset, which is what business needs to become a force for good. How are you collaborating internally and externally to make a bigger impact?

So what now?
